When you look at your son, whats the first thing you notice? Maybe his adorable grin, his crinkly nose, his sense of humor that just won’t quit?.. All of these things make up who he is, but what about his story?

What is deep down inside his heart? What was he created for? Our children are given to us with a story inside their hearts already written…and they wait to be read..

I think alot of us have gotten it backwards. We think our children are given to us with blank sheets waiting for us to fill the pages..We fret about their education, their manners, their socialization, and we fill their schedules to the brim with sports and activities, all because the “world” has told us this is what our children need in order to become someone of importance.

Our first priority as Christian moms of boys is to make sure that we are taking the time to read our boy’s stories and not just raising them up to fit into this world’s mold. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with what world tells us we need to do to to help our boys grow into men…But we need to ask ourselves if those things match the story that God has already written within our boy’s heart? Is those things drawing him closer to Christ or further away?

Are we spending more time worry about “what” our children will be instead of “who” they will become?

And who they will become depends on WHOSE reflection they are taught to mirror…Jesus or the worlds?

Moms of Boys will you join me on the adventure into your boys heart?

Will you join me in setting aside some time to pray and ask God how we can lay down the world’s agenda and what they say our boys “need”. And instead ask God to show us, His agenda for our boys lives…

That He would reveal to us their purpose, their calling, their gifts, their passion, their quirks, and their bents..

There is a great adventure written on the walls of our boys hearts. And its up to us as their moms to read it, nurture it and allow it to become that great adventure and mission God created it to be.

So moms of boys..Its time to go fix yourself a cup of kool-aid, grab your boy, and step into his world, his imagination, his wonder, his awe, his excitement, his laughter, his fear and his love…

Its there you will find his story..chapter one..

“Mom, can you get those pictures of women in their underwear out of my head? To which Micheal’s mom asked.. what pictures honey? You know..the ones from that Secret Store in the mall..replied Micheal.”

This quote came from a book I read and the boy was 11 years old and he was referring to the lingerie ads from the Victoria Secret Store, His mom had taken him and his sisters to the mall and upon passing this store, those images caught his attention and now were stuck in his mind.

As a mom of boys, I never really realized what I am up against raising them in such a world that stops at nothing to destroy their innocence at such a early age. So I began to pray asking God when I needed to start focusing on this with my boys??…

It was a few days later my two year old son, Mason was watching Noggin (a children’s network ) and this woman came on and was dressed and dancing like she should be in a club… not singing for children! And in that moment the Holy Spirit convicted me and I turned the channel!..I realized that this battle to keep my precious boys innocence starts from the time they enter this sinful world, Satan isn’t going to wait for them to be a certain age to begin to pour all these filthy images into my boys minds, he is after them from the beginning, His desire is to destroy my son and he could care less how old he is, if he knows we as their mothers have our guards down then he is going to go after them like never before!..

When the Lord opened my eyes to this, I began to ask Him..How Lord do I keep my child pure, when everything around him, is everything but? And He began to lay these things on my heart…

* Be aware of what your children and YOU are watching on TV, even your babies and toddlers!( boys are led by visual images and it has to start somewhere) and if you feel uncomfortable watching it TURN THE CHANNEL! Don’t allow Satan to slither in your home in this way!!

* Be aware of what magazines you allow in your home (Victoria Secret catalogs, sales papers with bra and underwear ads, swimsuits, low revealing tops etc)

* Find a way to develop a distraction when you are out and come across a girl that is immodestly dressed.(The Duggar family has a special word that they say when they see a girl dressed this way and once the boys hear it they drop their heads until the girl is out of sight.)

* Be aware of your surroundings, what may seem like a innocent stroll around the mall, could be all Satan needs to plant the seed of lustful images in your son.

* Know who your children’s friends are and what they are doing!..Most boys are introduce to pornography for the first time when they are around their friends.

* Install a filter on your computer and restrict and monitor what your child does and sees while using.

* Moms of girls PLEASE teach your daughters to dress modestly and the importance of doing so, so that our boys won’t be tempted by their outward appearance but instead drawn to their inward beauty!! And moms be the one to set this example yourselves!!

* Read scripture to your boys and memorize it together, so they have their own sword to fight the enemy with!.

* PRAY PRAY PRAY!! Ask God to reveal to you how you can protect your son from becoming engulfed in the powerful stronghold Satan has over the men today with pornography!

* Pray with and over your boys, Remember God loves your boys and wants to see them become all He created them to be, even more than you do!

Moms of boys, We need to realize that as much as the Lord loves our boys, Satan hates them just as much and wants to see them destroyed and overcome with the pressures of this world, so that he can distract them from all the Lord wants to do through them.

And through this post I hope to challenge you, no matter how old your boys are, to realize that we are in a BATTLE raising our boys, and we need to stand on guard and pray that God will show us how to protect their innocence and keep their hearts pure, and to take the measures to do so, no matter how crazy or extreme they may be!!.. Lets stand and link arms together to train up our boys to become men who are prepared to fight AGAINST the battle of pornography and stop Satan in his tracks once and for all!!

When I first looked into the face of my baby boy, I had no idea what to expect. I had been a mother of girls for the past 7 years, so this boy business was new to me. Little did I know how this precious being would soon turn my life upside down, not to mention my house!;)..

But something happened in my heart when I began the journey of being a mother of a boy. I learned to see God in a whole new way and began to embrace the qualities and reflections of God in my little boy.

Even at two years old, he has this desire to conquer the world, even if all he has to do it with is a sheet wrapped around his neck and play sword;) And to me as a first time mom of a boy, it well…scared me! Why does he want to fight all the time..I cried?! 

The Lord took my hand and began to teach me a thing or two about my boy..He began to show me that He made him that way, that he created my son with a desire to fight and conquer..I have to admit I wasn’t liking this idea..but the Lord continued…

 He showed my heart that He created boys to have a desire to want to conquer and destroy the enemy and save the damsel in distress and become the Hero (ahh ok Lord I am following now).  That for boys to mirror the image of God, they from the time of birth, have a warrior placed on the inside of them and as their mother, I have to learn to embrace that in my son and to allow him to fight and save his sisters from the dragon in the backyard, and the monsters under the be.  These silly games are actually teaching him how to put on his armor of Christ and pick up his sword and learn how to fight the battles in his life. To learn to battle the fiery temptation darts satan will all to soon begin to throw at him, to battle for their future wives, children, countrymen, and ancestry..and to battle not only for thier own salvation but for the many lost souls in the world.

Our boys have to be prepared for the battle of the Lord..And so today I will with excitement put on my son’s “sheet” cape and hand him his sword and tell him about those huge dragons in our background and watch his eyes light up with excitement as he runs to conquer them and become his mamma’s hero for the day…

Oh won’t you do the same?

Lord, May you teach me how to recognize the reflections of You in my sons and embrace them instead of ignoring them because I don’t understand them. May You teach me how to raise up warriors for your kingdom, and boys who know how to use their armor and swords for the right reasons and that’s to fight the good fight and through that bring you glory and honor. In your precious name..Amen
